USITT WAS A BLAST
The 49th annual USITT Conference and Stage Expo in Cincinnati, OH, was a great time and we always enjoy connecting with so many top-notch universities and even high school theater programs. Attendance was up and our Wonka-themed booth drew quite a crowd when attendees with Golden Tickets got to experience flying first-hand. Most realized quickly that flying is not as easy as it looks. Which is why we are excited to launch our Master Classes designed for college and university theater programs. Not only will ZFX add the artistry of flying to a production, but students will now have the opportunity to gain hands-on instruction from our world-renowned flying directors.

JOE CHAMPELLI JOINS THE ZFX CREW
We are especially pleased to announce that Joe Champelli has joined ZFX as General Manager. Joe is an exciting addition to our company - he'll head up operations and lead the development and implementation of new technology and products.

Joe's career began in Las Vegas in the design department for the Pirate Battle in Buccaneer Bay at TI. From there he joined the automation department at The Siegfried and Roy Show where he designed machinery for new illusions and mechanical effects. More than 15 years later, Joe's knowledge of automation and machinery design placed him at the helm of hoist product design for Fisher Technical Services, Inc. He holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Technical Production from Penn State University and a B.S. in Design for Theatre from Illinois State University. In his free time he enjoys motorcycle riding and ice skating with his family. But not at the same time.

Needless to say, we couldn't be happier to have Joe. He'll help make your vision a reality, too.

WHY THE KILTS?
The Kilt is an outward sign of our core philosophy: dare to think different. It seems unconventional but only by conventional thinking. Why wouldn't modern men wear kilts when it is undeniably more comfortable and logical? And while we're re-thinking things, why does a boy's bike have a horizontal bar and a girl's doesn’t?

So when you see us in our kilts, let it remind you that we think differently, especially when it comes to flying. We start each day open-minded and unrestrained, literally, from the moment we get up in the morning and don’t put on our pants.

Some companies refuse to try something new; well, we refuse not to! ZFX is setting the flying standard of this century.

A WICKED UPDATE
After nearly a 4-year run at the Ford Center's Oriental Theatre in Chicago, the final performance of Wicked was January 25th, 2009. Being a part of Wicked Chicago was a fantastic experience. Wicked Los Angeles packed up and moved back "home" to San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre after it’s world premier there in 2003.

There’s a second Wicked Touring company. One just was not enough to give audiences around the country what they wanted! Check out the official website to get tour dates and information:

Other ZFX Wicked installations on Broadway, Stuttgart, Germany, and Melbourne, Australia are all going strong. Gotta love those flying monkeys!
